The rascals at the Virginia School Boards AssociationPosted: May 15, 2011
Tomorrow the Fairfax County school board will consider legislative recommendations for the 2012 Policies and Resolutions of the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA). One of the proposals states, “All new mandated programs, including those implemented by the Virginia State Board of Education through the rulemaking process, should be fully funded.”
That statement should be rejected. Those rascals at the Virginia School Boards Association are always looking at ways for local school districts to avoid having any oversight from the state. It is perfectly proper for the state to mandate programs and school districts should stop seeking excuses to avoid their responsibility to the students.
